Started a compressor change out on a City Multi today that was grounded. the job was surprisingly pretty service friendly, after removing the compressor I dumped some oil out of the compressor and did not like the way it looked, there was a lot of sparkling foreign particles in the compressor oil, this being what most likely caused the short to ground. The oil was not acidic but regardless the oil needed to be dealt with. Mitsu recommends at this point also changing the accumulator, adding this suction line filter drier set up, and a charge of oil to add to the new accumulator. Always Check your compressor oil! That could be the difference between 1 compressor change or 2 compressor changes and an unhappy customer . #teachme #hvaclife
