The last pic in the scroll started a heavy debate on social media about a year ago. First, get into open minded scientist mode and I'll explain. If a joint, internally has a small crevasse, liquid refrigerant (condensed gas) can get trapped in the crevasse on the off cycle. If that trapped liquid happens to be in the discharge line, when the system starts, the heat of the line starts to boil the liquid. As vapour takes up way more volume than liquid, the pressure built up in the crevasse forces the crevasse to open up like in the images. There are also images of bulged joints I've seen and stories of joints busting open. The argument from some was that the pipe was dropped, after the debate, I received many images of others finding the same thing which validated the original findings. It appears this can be prevented with a braze that penetrates the entire joint. Happy HVACing #teachme
