White Rodgers two stage gas valve I replaced on a Carrier 48TC. . I noticed after I replaced this gas valve today, there was a fair amount of condensation that was dripping down the wires leading into the heating section. The droplets would land right on top of the gas valve connections, roll out switch and inducer motor. It gives insight as to why this gas valve failed in the first place. . The pcb insulation covering a few pathways have clearly seen a little excess heat. Perhaps due the scaling between connection points as you can see, creating more resistance than it is typically used to. . A senior mechanic informed me of an internal bulletin released to Carrier employees about this problem. The wiring leading into the heating cabinet should have a drip leg and be fastened away from the gas valve. The drip leg will allow the water to drop from its low point preventing moisture and water running along the wiring and onto heating section components. . A better seal or wire grommets would also help this out as well. In any case, another quote will be submitted to extend these wires and provide that door seal to prevent premature damage to the newly installed gas valve🤙 . #hvac #hvacr #commercialhvac #hvactechnician #hvaclife #hvacrepair #hvacproblems #teachme
