Blown out terminal on a compressor. They had a tech come out a few times before I went out there each call was for the breaker tripping. First time he changed a capacitor. Next day the contractor. Few days go by and he tells them the compressor is going bad. So he puts a hard start on it. I then go out the next day. The tech forgot to put the disconnect back in. I put my amp clamp on and fired it up within 4 to 5 seconds and the terminal blew at 278 amps. I forgot to mention this is a 3 year old Lennox merit series. After the new compressor was installed the breaker tripped on start up. Found issue instantly. The customers breaker for the a/c was also tied into the dryer inside. Installed 1 new breaker and added one. So moral of the story is to take your time look at the big picture. You can change part after part until it’s fixed or you can fix it right the first time and have a pleased customer.
