Here's a little quick video of a trane unit with the ECM condenser fan motor. So the y call that brings that ECM motor on actually is coming from the y call at the contactor. So if you don't know you cannot just push the contactor in and expect that condenser fan motor to come on. The unit has to have a y call for that condenser fan motor to operate.
