I have a nearly new 7.5 ton package chiller that will trip on low refrigerant pressure occasionally. This unit serves a machine to cool a die as well as a hx that cools hydraulic oil. Low pressure is set to trip at 102 psi (410A). I never got it to alarm for me but here is what I found: 59 ewt/ 53 lwt 110 psi suction/ 10 superheat 308 psi head/ 20 subcool clear glass 18* approach temperature This system has only run for approx 20 hours since new. Talked to tech support to get design approach temp and they spec it at 10*. I would normally have no doubts about it having a fouled evaporator, but with hardly any runtime I find it a little hard to believe. I do know that the water they have in this building isn't very good. Water leaves a brownish stain on everything. Any thoughts?
