What I like to do as a preliminary for any maintenance inspection or start up. Video is an unedited 4 minutes long but I talk about what I look for visually and by touch, prior to putting any tools to the job. What I did not mention is that I typically touch the unit cabinet in different areas first as it is operating. This is to feel out any irregular vibration or resonance that may be occurring. Then the visual inspection is performed. This may be second nature for some of you seasoned vets. But maybe for those of you prospecting or just starting off in the commercial world, a few pointers can be picked up here. It’s important to mention, that not just with commercial HVAC equipment, but all equipment should have this general inspection. This is a small part of what “it takes 5 minutes to be a better tech” means, imo. This extra 5 minutes can sometimes give you an expectation of what is to come when performing your service calls or inspections. Understand the sequence of operation on the equipment your working on. More often then not, you will be able to diagnose calls before having to poke around with a meter or other instrumentation (obviously verify with your meter, always). So keep developing those skills to solidify that HVAC 6th sense🤙 #teachme #hvac #commercialhvac #hvacr
