They house the refrigerant compressor to create head pressure, and the condenser to dissipate heat. These ones appear to be for a ductless split system which would have the evaporator inside, fed by the metering device. This will provide comfort cooling to an apartment unit conceivably. These condensing units in Padua Italy are mounted on a balcony, with some flowers which is unique for me.
