How does a cooling tower work? We switched this building heat pump loop over from heating to cooling. The boiler and boiler pumps were shut down. The valving for the loop was switched over. The cooling tower was filled with water, the belts and pulleys were inspected and the bearings were greased. The loop is kept at approximately 85⁰F The way the tower works... The heat pump loop fluid is fed through the cooling tower heat exchanger. The first stage of the cooling tower is to open the dampers at the top to let heat escape. The second stage is the spray pump. The water we added to the tower is fed into the spray pump and sprayed over the heat ex. The third stage is the fan, the fan is controlled by a VFD. The fan blows over the heat ex for additional cooling. It looks complicated but it's really quite simple. #coolingtower #heatpumploop #heatpumps #heatpumpbuildingloop #hvac #highrisehvac #hvaceducation #hvacsystem #hvacservice #hvacswitchover #hvactraining #hvacknowledge
