MOTOR STARTERS - understanding what they’re used for, and what they’re composed of helps out with their application. ⚡️ A RELAY, has a coil, and some contacts. These are lower duty/lower voltage use. A CONTACTOR has a coil, and some contacts. This is for higher duty/voltage use. A STARTER, is a Contactor, plus Overloads. The O/L portion is effectively stuck on to the bottom of the Contacter Portion. The Overloads have an amperage sensing element which is adjustable, and will break the Electrical path to the Motor/protected load in a condition of overload. QUESTION - any tips on understanding Starters, their application, or working on/with them? 💡
