ERV / HRV - dedicated duct system: why is it better? 🤔 Energy Recovery Ventilators and Heat Recovery Ventilators are great editions to Domestic and Commercial HVAC Systems. ERVs have the capability to recover latent and sensible enthalpy, while HRVs just recover sensible. 💦🥵 A traditional method of ducting these is right into the furnace plenum, which is an easier install but not as effective. A Dedicated Duct System as pictured allows the E/HRV to pull exhaust from specific locations of the home which may need more help like the bathroom or kitchen.
