QUESTION: who works with/on FLOODED Feed Evaporator Coils? 💦 Superheat is a necessary evil for Dry Expansion Evaporator Coils to prevent Liquid State Refrigerant from returning to the compressor. Superheat in an Evaporator coil is an inefficiency to its heat transfer. With Flooded Feed Evaporator Coils being fully/nearly full of liquid, they utilize nice dense Latent State Refrigerant for efficient heat transfer. The Suction Lines of these systems must utilize some provision to prevent liquid from returning to the Compressor. 🤔 See image and link from SWEP regarding Flooded vs DX Heat Exhangers.
