I will agree with @The Catapillar that our phones are our most useful tool today💯 However, I tried to think back as an apprentice, before the real boom of smart phones and social media availability, what my most used or carried tool was. . This was my very first purchase on my first paycheck in the trade, a Fluke 902. As a service mechanic, this clamp meter (or one of my redundant others) is always on me. Cargo pocket or kangaroo pouch pocket in a sweater, this meter needs no real tool bag as it is just with me at all times. . Working mostly commercial HVAC these days, I feel like 90% of service call problems are diagnosed and verified by the meter, guiding you to the root cause of a problem.
